Meet the Beachside Health Studio Staff

 
Steve Ryland

Steve Ryland, PT, DPT, President/Owner
Steve Ryland, PT, DPT, is the owner of Beachside Physical Therapy, Inc. and Beachside Health Studio, which incorporates six out-patient physical therapy clinics in Brevard County Florida.

Mr. Ryland received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Affairs from The Florida State University and a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from University of Central Florida. He then completed his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from prestigious Boston University. Mr. Ryland’s background in physical therapy began in acute care. Following this he pursued experience in sub-acute rehabilitation, outpatient orthopedics and home health care. He formed his private practicein January of 2002 secondary to the need for quality outpatient orthopedics in his geographical area. His practice focuses on high-quality, hands on functional outcomes and a rapid return to previous function including high level sports activities.

The practice has recently expanded to provide preventative maintenance services for high level athletes, including professional athletes, with a focus on sport-specific enhancement to the highest level.

Since the beginning, he has grown from one practice to six now employing over twenty of the most highly skilled and versatile physical therapists and assisting over ninety new clients per week to improve their functional lifestyle.

Mr. Ryland also consults other private practice owners across the country to assist them in achieving the desired outcomes of their practice through effective management.

Chris Wicker

Chris Wicker – PT, DPT, OTR/L, TPI Cert. Golf Fitness Instructor

Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Western New England College. He then received a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and later his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. His doctoral focus is in manual therapy. Chris joined Beachside Physical Therapy in 2003 to allow him to focus on the use of his manual skills in an outpatient orthopedic setting. Since then Chris has undergone extensive training in golf biomechanics leading to successful completion of his certification as a Golf Fitness Instructor through the prestigious Titlest Performance Institute.

Sharon Hope Love

Sharon Hope Love – Studio Director, VP of                   Operations, PTA (PTA 20945),                                             LMT (MA53973), Certified Pilates                                       Instructor
Sharon has been involved with human health since 2003 when she took a five month sabbatical and traveled on a hospital ship through Europe and into Africa. From there she returned to the states and undertook her advanced certification in Pilates. Sharon is well versed and trained in basic, intermediate and advanced levels of mat, reformer, cadillac, wunda chair, electric chair, large barrel and small barrel exercises. Sharon later went back to school and received her Physical Therapy Assistant education. Sharon is a licensed PTA and is able to meld Pilates with her rehab because of the strong therapeutic background Pilates holds. Sharon continued her education with Massage Therapy and became skilled at Swedish relaxation, deep tissue and therapeutic massage as well as myofascial release, reflexology and thai techniques. Sharon believes body health and awareness is essential for a prosperous life and it is her aspiration to share wellness with all those she comes in contact with.

Jeremy Stewart

Jeremy Stewart – Physical Therapist and Triathlete Trainer
Jeremy received his undergraduate degree in Recreation from Indiana University and the completed his Master’s of Physical Therapy from the University of Louisville in 2000. While attending Indiana University Jeremy became an avid cyclist competing in the Little 500 bicycle race. While earning his physical therapy degree Jeremy began competing in area triathlons and has continued this endeavor since graduation.

Jeremy brings his passion of endurance sports to the clinic and community through rehabilitation endurance athletes, running assessments, and community lectures at area running camps on injury recognition and prevention.

Casey Whelen Welch

Casey Whelan Welch – VP of Administration & Public Relations, Certified TRX Instructor, Pilates Instructor
Casey has been working in the healthcare and Physical Therapy field since 2002 and has been working for the Beachside Physical Therapy family since February 2007.

After growing up in Indialantic, FL her family moved to North Carolina where she finished high school and obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She began taking college courses in Pilates in 2001 and truly fell in love with all it has to offer.

After finishing college she served one year in the AmeriCorps traveling the Western United States providing community service to areas in need. Upon completion she moved to Oregon where she began working for a Physical Therapy clinic and grew very fond of the profession.

She returned to her hometown of Indialantic after 11 years and began a Pilates Teaching Program in 2008. Casey truly believes in the complete mind/body experience Pilates has to offer and will continue her training throughout her lifetime. After becoming involved with TRX (Total Resistance Training) classes through Beachside Health Studio and seeing the many similarities between Pilates and TRX she earned her certification as a TRX instructor in 2010 and currently teaches classes throughout the week.

Pamela Brandli

Pamela Brandli – Certified Master Personal Trainer
Pamela Brandli Master Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor.  Pamela has been studying in the exercise industry since 1982.  She attended  Florida Institute of Technology, this is where she co-foundedan exercise program with the Athletic Director for the students while studying MedicalTechnology.  She later pursued Exercise Physiology at the University of Central Florida, after spending a year living abroad on a sailboat in the Caribbean.   She became certified by ACE a leading company in the industry.  She started her own business after the birth of her child to help women with weight loss and achieve their personal goals.  Her sincere love of helping clients breakdown barriers is what keeps her charged up.   Every year Pamela attends ECA and the Omega Institute for Yoga to keep her fresh and on the cutting edge to help you stay informed and safe to get to the next level.   She is known for her positive energy and motivation, always signing up for races and playing golf, challenging herself so she can challenge YOU!

Lea Williamson

Lea Williamson – Licensed Massage Therapist (MA57444)
Lea Williamson has a passion for massage therapy. She started giving spontaneous back rubs to family and friends when she was a teenager. She put her passion on hold for a few years while pursuing an academic career – obtaining her Bachelor’s in Communications from UCF. It wasn’t until recuperating from a severe sky diving accident that she reconnected with the healing power of massage. Crediting her rehab massage therapist with the bulk of being able to walk again, Lea decided to help others by following her joy and received her certification in massage therapy while living in New Mexico. Since her initial massage education, Lea has fueled her passion with over 300 hours of continuing education in an array of massage techniques including advanced training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy. An avid volunteer, Lea has given away hundreds of hours of massage services to spread the healing power of her art. She fully believes in the power of massage to restore balance to body and mind.

 
Kelly Cryns

Kelly Cryns – Licensed Massage Therapist (MA59942)
Kelly has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 2004. She acquired over 1000 hours of training in California and specializes in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Shiatsu. She thrives on taking care of her clients to the best of her knowledge and enjoys seeing the incredible changes massage can bring to the body. Kelly’s mission is to help others overcome injuries, live pain free and to find balance and harmony in their lives.

David Smith

David Smith – Physical Therapist, TRX Instructor
After an 18 month recovery from multiple LS spine herniations, I went to UCF for PT school, and Graduated in 2002.  I then went to work at Spine and Sport Institute in Vero Beach where I trained under Marjorie Rodd, PT, Cert MDT to become a credentialed Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment therapist.  During that time I herniated 4 more discs (2 in CS and 2 in TS) while mountain biking.  All during these injuries I treated myself with MDT.  I then began working at Beachside PT in 2005.  I became a Cert MDT Therapist in 2005.  Then I became a certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner, took courses to become a Pilates Instructor as well as a certification as a TRX instructor.  My main goal is to be able to educate and treat my patients and clients in the safest manner in being able to manage and control their mechanical issues of the spine and pelvis.

Stephen Moule

Stephen Moule – Certified Personal Trainer and   Medical Exercise Specialist
Stephen Moule is a NSCA certified personal trainer who utilizes the Functional Movement Screen to work towards your bodies ideal mobility and stability levels while simultaneously reaching your strength and fi tness goals.  The FMS allows Stephen to identify functional limitations and asymmetries in your body that can increase your risk for injury, reduce the effectiveness of physical conditioning, and even be the cause of pain.

Stephen received his Associates Degree at the University of Florida , and is currently studying psychology of human motivation at the University of Central Florida.  He is always working to continue his education on the latest and best functional training and rehabilitative methods, as well as axiology and motivation techniques to help you reach your optimal fitness.

Scott Kingsbury -License Massage Therapist (MA30910), Certified Reflexologist, Certified Orthopedic Therapist
Scott Kingsbury is a Certified Reflexologist and a Certified Orthopedic Massage Therapist who facilitates the healing response, using the principles of manual medicine.  Scott is also a Continuing Education Provider for the Florida Board of Massage as well as the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork; he has been educating professionals and non-professionals alike since 2003.  Scott also works with the Florida State Massage Association providing high quality education to many of the fine therapists here in Florida.  Scott has provided world class training for spa therapy teams in such prestigious resorts as the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island Plantation Resort, and the Diplomat in south Florida.

Scott is the founder and developer of “Orthoflexology” which means {Structural – Reflex – Science}.  The science of orthoflexology combines orthopedic therapy, soft tissue twisting and reflex zone therapy, into a fascinating application of protocols, designed to stop pain at its source. Scott has also produced 4 different instructional videos on reflexology, orthoflexology, and zone therapy.

Arwen Haislett

Arwen Haislett- Licensed Massage Therapist (MA53634)
Arwen Haislett has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 2006.  She completed a 600 hour program at the National Massage Therapy Institute in Wilmington, Delaware. Arwen quickly fell in love with the art of Massage and the multitude of physical and psychological benefits it brings to the body.  Arwen discovered various massage benefits which include stress relief, pain relief, increased circulation, lowered blood pressure, improved immune system, improved posture and flexibility, and much more.  Arwen finds great joy in sharing her passion with her clients and seeing the progress of health and wellness gained through massage.  Arwen specializes in Swedish and Therapeutic massage.  Since moving to Florida in 2008 she has worked in a spa and private practice and is excited to be joining a team of like minded professionals at Beachside Health Studio.  Arwen continues to grow her Massage career with education classes in Prenatal Massage and Injury Treatment.

Ethan M. Tyler, MS- Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Ethan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Saint Joseph’s College and then moved on to Indiana State University where he earned a Master’s in Exercise Science.  Ethan is a certified strength and conditioning specialist who believes that SELF awareness is the foundation for all training practices.

Ethan started his coaching career at Terre Haute North High School as the football defensive coordinator (1 season), linebackers coach (2 seasons) and was the head freshman basketball coach (1 season), then moved on to coach for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s football team as their strength and conditioning coach (2 seasons), inside linebackers coach (2 seasons).  Also, for a season he was the strength and conditioning coach for Terre Haute Rex collegiate summer baseball team.  Coaching athletes of differing levels has allowed him to develop training programs that focus on the individuals needs, not only for “strength” training but more importantly “weakness” training.

As the new Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Beach Side Health Studio, Ethan plans to start a training program where athletes can expect to learn, become SELF aware, and build upon their specific weaknesses which will add to their strengthens, thus preparing themselves for victory.
