GOLF FITNESS TRAINING

TPI in Oceanside, CA was founded by David Phillips (a Golf Magazine Top 100 teacher) and chiropractic physician Dr. Greg Rose. In addition to providing services to PGA touring pros and hosting the Golf Fitness series on the Golf Channel, their program is now taught to medical professionals, fi tness professionals, and PGA teaching professionals. Those completing the training and passing a certifi cation exam are qualified to perform the evaluation and physical training in golf performance.
With the addition of Tiger Woods to professional golf, physical conditioning has become more important to the game of golf. TPI combines knowledge from leading experts in the field of golf fitness and years of research to compile normative data of multiple body parts which are vital to the golf swing. The physical screen completed by the certified instructor compares the client to average measurements found on the PGA and LPGA tours.
Strength, flexibility, balance, stability, mobility, posture, etc. are all factors influencing our body’s movements. The screen assesses these factors in relation to the golf swing to identify areas that may be improved to give the client their own most efficient swing. The screen will identify deficits so that the instructor will be able to compile an individualized golf performance and conditioning program to improve these deficient areas. Each client is also assessed a golf fitness handicap so that there fitness level can be measured in the same way their playing handicap is measured.
There are an infinite number of golf swings, yet only ONE efficient way per person to swing a golf club based on physically what a person can do.
